Welcome to the Repeal the Bailouts Blog!
The Repeal the Bailouts Blog is an outgrowth of the old Repeal the Bailout website. Inspired by outrage at Congressional passage of the 850 billion dollar Bush/Paulson “financial bailout bill” on October 3, 2008, the original site was intended to be a resource for intellectual activism in opposition to the US Government’s dangerous and immoral “financial bailout” policies.
The new site and Blog will have a broader focus, mainly dealing with general issues in politics, culture, and philosophy. It will, however, try to keep as a central theme one of the core issues underlying the site’s original mission: to oppose the immorality of bailouts. “Bailouts” take many forms in today’s politics and culture, and not all of them are financial. Whenever you see the good and the responsible being punished or exploited to protect the bad and the irresponsible from the consequences of their actions, you are seeing the principle of “The Bailout” in action.
